Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society suspends adoptions

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth has announced it's closing its centres in Kitchener and Stratford and moving to essential services only until further notice.

"This is a great opportunity to introduce a new pet into the home, as many people now have more time to spend bonding with their new pet", Jessica Bohrson with the Calgary Humane Society said.

"We put out a plea for emergency fosters and received over 500 applications in a matter of DAYS, which is nothing short of incredible", Asheville Humane Society staffer Meghan Lavender told Good News Network in an email this week. Until it opens again, Jackson County Animal Control will only respond to emergency calls for dog bites and injured animals.

The Humane Society of Saint Joseph County has temporarily locked its doors to the public, but they still need your help.

Animal shelters across the country also being hit hard by the pandemic. "We're trying to clear out animals to minimize the work for the staff, who should be staying home and sheltering in place".
