Bindi Irwin marries in secret lavish wedding hours before coronavirus lockdown - details

Last night Scott Morrison announced in response to the coronavirus crisis, weddings would be restricted to five people; the couple getting married, their witnesses and the celebrant.

Bindi Irwin married Chandler Powell in a small ceremony at the Australia Zoo on Wednesday.

She also addressed the timing of the wedding amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Her message included, "There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now". "We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it's lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos", she continued.

Irwin added: "Right now we're encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history". Sweetly, Australia Zoo staff holding koalas were also in attendance alongside dozens of other guests seen at the venue. "Things he liked to eat - and what's so special for us is getting married in Australia Zoo, it's dad favourite place on the planet, he built the place with his bare hands so it will be really nice I think to celebrate the day surrounded by love and light". She asked her followers to keep in mind to, "stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!"

"After nearly a year of planning, we changed everything so that we could enjoy a safe and small private ceremony at our home, Australia Zoo", he wrote in part.

"On my birthday I said "yes" and "forever" to the love of my life", she wrote.

Bindi's brother Robert, a talented photographer, captured their engagement on camera and later revealed he would play a special part on the big day when he filled his late father Steve Irwin's shoes to walk his sister down the aisle.

"I know you'd be beaming with pride when the time comes that he walks me down the aisle", Bindi continued.

"On my birthday I said "yes" and "forever" to the love of my life", Irwin wrote next to a photo of her with Powell previous year.

On Tuesday, Bindi posted a picture of herself with her father as a young child.
