Agent receiver Phillip Dorsett sees 'right fit' with Seahawks

One stick at a time, the Seahawks are attempting to improve their beaver dam, Tuesday signing former Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett to a one-year free agent deal.

New England's wide receiver depth chart now features Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N'Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski. Shows you his work ethic. "I think overall it's just t/ (sic) right for me". Dorsett spent the last three seasons in New England, where he caught 73 passes for 881 yards and eight touchdowns in 45 games (eight starts).

It's not exactly going to be easy for Dorsett to get a lot of snaps and targets in Seattle, either.

The Green Bay Packers are keeping veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis as he gets ready for his 15th National Football League season. He had three receptions for 32 yards prior to the injury, which kept him out for the remainder of the 2019 season.


Dorsett now joins a Seattle receiver group that includes the likes of wide receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. ESPN 710 Seattle's Jake Heaps believes Dorsett's speed makes will make him a deep threat in the Seahawks' offense. Dorsett has ELITE speed for a down field passing attack with the best deep ball thrower in the game @DangeRussWilson. The Seahawks also signed veteran tight end Greg Olsen earlier in the offseason and tendered former Pats tight end Jacob Hollister.

Dorsett ran a blazing 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the 2015 NFL Combine before being selected by the Colts with the 29th pick of the draft.

The Patriots traded for Dorsett in September 2017, sending away third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett in a one-for-one swap.
