Trump considers reopening US economy despite coronavirus spread

A push to reopen the economy after the 15-day shutdown would likely set up a clash between Trump and many governors trying to slow the spread in their states - including New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and potentially put the president at odds with the country's health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who said it would take several more weeks until people can start going about their lives again. We will assess at that time and give it more time if we need a little more time. If auto accidents were doubling and tripling every day, we would take action as a country to fix that problem.

While Fox News is known as the home to such pro-Trump hosts as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, Tuesday's town hall was held by Bill Hemmer and Harris Faulkner, two anchors the network bills as members of a supposedly fearless and hard-hitting news division. I think it would be a handsome time.

"It gives us more chance to work on what we're doing, and I'm not sure that's going to be the day, but I would love to aim it right at Easter Sunday, so we're open for church service and services generally on Easter Sunday", he said. "That would be a handsome thing".

Trump's Easter target was not immediately embraced by Dr. Deborah Birx, the coordinator for the White House task force, who indicated any move would have to be guided by data still being collected.

India’s Prime Minister Decrees 21-Day Lockdown to Curb Coronavirus
This time, people started assuming that Narendra Modi is going to declare financial emergency which did not happened. We are taking all steps to ensure essential services continue", the Prime Minister announced.

"Once we have those things in place, it would be a far less risky time to take stock of social distancing measures in place and consider what might gradually be reduced with trial and error", Inglesby said.

"A lot of people agree with me. It's not either-or, and that's why we're taking a fresh look at it", he said.

During a private conference call with roughly 30 conservative leaders on Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence reinforced Trump's eagerness to lift coronavirus-related work and travel restrictions "in a matter of weeks, not months". "It's been very painful for our country and very destabilizing", he said. "If we lose those companies we're talking about hundreds of thousands of jobs, millions of jobs". But public health experts, including those working on the White House coronavirus task force, have warned the comparison is not analogous and that the coronavirus is significantly more contagious.
