They include pubs, registered and licensed clubs (excluding bottle shops attached to these venues); hotels (excluding accommodation); gyms and indoor sporting venues; cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos and night clubs; restaurants and cafes (which will be restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery); and religious gatherings and places of worship or funerals (in enclosed spaces and other than very small groups and where the one person per 4 square metre rule applies).

He confirmed schools will remain open tomorrow, however, state by state, that may change, with Victoria bringing school holidays forward to Tuesday.

"Governments must do their bit ... we need Australians to do their bit", he said.

Additionally, he referred to the scale of the pandemic, asserting that it was "obviously bigger than politics, it is bigger than any of us who are in this Chamber, Prime Ministers, Leader of the Oppositions, Ministers, Shadow Ministers, Members of Parliament, bigger than all of us".

Mr Morrison described the measures as "stage one", with their status to be reviewed monthly.

All Australians should expect their local businesses to be following this rule. "In addition, schools will seek to provide learning at home in a distance learning framework but you can not be assured that that will come in place immediately".

Strict regulations have been introduced to protect those in aged care homes who are some of the most vulnerable when it comes to fatally contracting COVID-19. He warned the closures could continue for six months. And that has to be sustainable.

"Health advice has been clear and they have remained open and this is important because I want to stress this, I do not want to see our children lose an entire year of their education", the PM said. I have no doubt. It is the understandable fear of the unknown and there is much that is not known about the coronavirus but we must not let that feat overtake us.

"So we summon the spirit of the Anzacs, of our Great Depression generation, of those who built the Snowy, of those who won the great peace of the Second World War and defended Australia".

Covid-19 has forced states to close their borders and schools to shut, while Australia said it couldn't assemble a team for the Tokyo Olympics and the NRL followed the AFL by suspending its season.

"These extraordinary times require extraordinary measures and we face a global challenge like we have never faced before", he told reporters in Canberra.
