Sony Reveals Details About PlayStation 5’s PS4 Game Compatibility

Sony is believed to work on a single next-generation system, while Microsoft is most likely developing two SKUs in tandem - One of them is the Xbox Series X, indeed, while the other probably is the Lockhart console.

Xbox Series X could be the best gaming console of this year as Sony has refused to share any details about the PlayStation 5.

Billy Khan delaku developer DOOM Eternal reacted positively to the new game console is.

Microsoft has powered up the next-gen Xbox Series X with 1-TB custom NVMe SSD, which can be further expanded by connecting external memory cards at the rear section port. Xbox Series X will come with a custom octa-core AMD Zen 2 CPU and each unit will be clocked at 3.8 Hz.

The PlayStation 5 will be the success of the PlayStation 4 will follow? If a game doesn't need to transfer more than 2.5Gb/s for example, then that is just overkill on a PS5 and doesn't give it any advantage at all over Xbox in that area. In this new generation, the PS5 will use 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, a natural evolution without many surprises. An SSD is a solid state drive, with no moving parts inside, unlike HDDs where there is literally a hard drive moving inside them. However, PS5 has an interesting design and the SSD has 5.5GB/s of transfer speed which could be a gamechanger. Maybe we will see Data transfer as a bottleneck in gaming but with advancements in compression, streamlining the rendering process and machine learning upscaling, any advantages could be negated on either system. These designs were created based on alleged development kits (known as dev kits) on the console, which have this space.

The PlayStation 5 launches in holiday 2020.

Lead architect Mark Cerny expressed how pleased he was with the prioritisation and progress of backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 5. "We recently took a look at the top 100 PlayStation 4 titles as ranked by playtime, and we're expecting nearly all of them to be playable at launch on PlayStation 5", Cerny says. However, the PS5 is all unified, all the same which may make it easier for devs - not having to be so "careful" where they allocate the blocks.

Sony also says those older titles may run better on the newer system, too.

Kurt Margenau, co-game director of The Last of Us 2 mention that the PlayStation 5 is a big leap in his career.
