With Kreider's four-year contract that carries a $4.625 million cap expiring on July 1, the Rangers had two options: trade him now or extend him before the deadline. Financial terms were not disclosed, but TSN pegged the deal at $45.5 million. Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich was a passenger and is considered day-to-day.

"Igor was driving and apparently a vehicle pulled a U-turn in front of them and there was a collision", Davidson said.

The players were taken to the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital immediately after the crash to undergo medical examination. Kreider was a 2009 first-round draft pick and has played his entire career with NY. "It is non-displaced. He will be reassessed regarding his injury in a couple of weeks", he said. The Rangers made the surprise decision to call up the Russian in January - despite having Henrik Lundqvist and Alexandar Georgiev on the roster.

Shesterkin recorded a 9-1-0 record, boasting an excellent.940 save percentage with a 2.23 goals against average, while Buchnevich posted 14 goals and 37 points.

As for the Kreider deal, Davidson said both sides worked hard to get it done.

The puck-carrying defenseman had 26 points (six goals, 20 assists) with the Hawks this season after finishing previous year with a career-high 60 points (17 goals, 43 assists). "That's a tough curveball that we have to deal with".

The Rangers next play Tuesday against the New York Islanders.

There are nearly 78,000 cases of confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world after it broke out in Wuhan, China, in December. Henry added that if people get targeted, then the likelihood of other suspected cases coming forward will plummet.
