Microsoft releases Windows 10 Insider Build 19569, plus new colorful icons

Microsoft disclosed numerous new Windows 10 icons in December, and also all of them are even more colorful and also modern-day than what exists in the os today.

As reported by Italian tech site Aggiornamenti Lumia, testers on the fast ring will start seeing the refreshed icons rolling out now, and they are for the following apps: Mail and Calendar, Alarm and Clock, as well as the Calculator, Movies and TV, alongside Voice Recorder and Groove Music.

"Design Leader at Windows and devices at Microsoft Christina Koehn says", When icons in the taskbar and Start menu are different styles, it creates more cognitive load to scan and find applications.

Interestingly, the new icons coming to Windows 10 are also those that'll appear natively in Windows 10X when it launches later this year, suggesting Microsoft is looking to unify the two operating systems ahead of time - at least in terms of visuals, if not full functionality.

"With the newest wave of icon redesigns, we faced two major creative challenges", Friedman wrote at the time.

Microsoft also previously reviewed its Office icons and design, with new options for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more. "We also had to develop a flexible and open design system to span a range of contexts while still being true to Microsoft".

We're investigating reports that some Insiders are unable to update to newer builds with error 0x8007042b.

When you upgrade with certain languages, like Japanese, the "Installing Windows X%" page isn't rendering the text correctly (only boxes are displayed).

The cloud recovery option for Reset this PC isn't working on this build.

If you're enrolled in the Fast ring, you can grab Windows 10 build 19569 via Windows Update now. Some of the refreshed icons could arrive sooner, depending on when Microsoft updates the apps.
