Harry and Meghan are dropping their official 'Sussex Royal' label

"While the duke and duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organization, given the specific United Kingdom government rules surrounding the use of the word royal, it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organization, when it is announced this spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation", a spokesperson said, according to The Guardian.

The verdict is in; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be giving up their "Sussex Royal" brand name when they leave the royal family.

The couple will formally step down as senior royals from March 31 and will no longer carry out duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II after that date.

The couple will return to the United Kingdom later this month to carry out their final official engagements before they step down as senior members of the royal family.

Sources told Page Six that Harry and Meghan had hoped to leverage "Sussex Royal" into a global trademark for all of their endeavors, including books, products, documentaries and their charitable foundation. The couple had spent months building their new careers around the brand and there had been expectations they envisioned using it as a charitable vehicle, much like former US president Barack Obama. The couple now post regular updates to their 11.2million followers on the social media platform and an expert has predicted they could earn a significant amount of money from sponsored posts.

A spokesman confirmed they had reached a final decision, after a USA tabloid website reported there had been frustrations on the part of the Duke and Duchess that it had become "an issue".

The couple will soon begin a new chapter in North America where they will become financially independent.

Their final official event will be the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abby with the Queen on March 9.

The insider revealed "Meghan said she's done with the drama and has no room in her life for naysayers, and the same goes for Harry".

Prior to their decision to step backfrom the titles and responsibilities of royal life, Harry and Meghan sought to trademark the term SussexRoyal to protect it from others who would like to exploit the brand. The trademark applications were filed "as protective measures", the transition details stated, and have now been removed.
