There are two severe flood warnings in Wales - in Pontypridd and Aberdulais - along with 53 flood warnings and 51 flood alerts. Police said they were trying to establish the man's identity.

One road under water again was Lichfield Road between Walsall and Rushall, where 82-year-old man Peter Harnwell died when his auto became submerged in water in 2018.

Several neighbouring countries were also affected.

However, there is still one wind weather warning in place for Monday.

There are still 274 flood warnings and 348 flood alerts in effect across England. Gale warnings were also issued in Iceland.

Britain's government weather agency issued a rare red warning for south Wales, saying there was a risk of "significant impacts from flooding" that included a "danger to life from fast flowing water, extensive flooding to property and road closures".

The EA said on Sunday that there had been more than 600 flood warnings and flood alerts in place across England - covering an area from Scotland's River Tweed to the rivers of west Cornwall.

The Met Office said the highest wind gust recorded was 146km/h at Aberdaron in North Wales on Saturday.

Storm Dennis, the combination of two storm centres over the Atlantic, caused rivers in Wales and Yorkshire to break their banks.

"It is important people are ready should the worst happen".

British Airways and easyJet confirmed they had grounded flights, with footage posted online showing a massive Airbus A380 jet being blown about as it attempted to land.

Numerous sporting fixtures were cancelled across the United Kingdom and Ireland over the course of the weekend, and more than 230 flights were cancelled on Saturday.
