Facebook's latest experiment is a Pinterest-like app

This week, the team released its fourth app experiment with the launch of Hobbi, a photo and video sharing app designed for documenting your personal projects and hobbies. Whether it's cooking, baking, DIY (do it yourself), arts and crafts, fitness or home décor. It will enable you to track your progress over time. There's now no option to share these photos or collections on social media, but one should expect that to be added sooner or later. Hobbi app is already available on iOS but there is no mention of an Android version yet. The app has been developed to target hobbyists all over the world.

Hobbi will only pull photos from the camera roll or those clicked using the app itself, unlike Pinterest, which lets users save photos from the web and pin them on a virtual board.

Facebook thus far has declined to comment on its programs for nearly any individual NPE Team program, pointing straight back to its first announcement that stated accessibility would depend on the program.

How is Hobbi like Pinterest?

Facebook said the app, created by a team of NPE, can "very quickly to change and will be closed if we know that they are useless to the people".

It's Pinterest's turn to be imitated by Facebook, following in the steps of other social platforms, including Snapchat and TikTok. The company executed an initiative similar to a startup called Creative Labs, but the social network closed that informal effort in 2015 after two years. From these photos, users can also create videos of their projects to share with family and friends.

The new app has limited controls and editing options. Founded in 2010, Pinterest went public in April last year with a healthy valuation of $10 billion, and last year surpassed Snapchat to become the third-largest social media network in the U.S. .

The company released Hobbi in Ukraine, Belgium, and Spain.
