Wuhan evacuee in Texas is the 15th American with coronavirus

Texas had previously no reported cases of the coronavirus and other evacuees on the San Antonio base are being monitored for symptoms.

According to CNN, "60-year-old United States citizen had died from the virus at Jinyintian Hospital, in Wuhan, on February 6, according to the US Embassy in Beijing, marking the first confirmed death of a foreigner from the virus".

CDC officials said it appeared the two San Diego patients were separately exposed to the virus in China.

A labeling error caused a person infected with the novel coronavirus to be mistakenly released from a hospital and returned to a San Diego military base where more than 200 evacuees from China are living under federal quarantine, officials said Tuesday. One of the passengers was being screened and counted twice daily because of a clerical error. The inconclusive results were not related to real patient samples but rather were a part of "quality-control procedures" at the labs before real samples can be tested.

A "miscommunication" was the reason one patient now at UC San Diego Health with novel coronavirus was accidentally sent back to quarantine at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and not mislabeling, a UCSD Health doctor said today. Each kit can test about 700 to 800 specimens from patients, the agency said. Currently, a three-member advance team from the WHO is in Beijing to meet with Chinese health officials and flesh out details of the joint mission.

"There is no indication of person-to-person spread of this virus at the quarantine facility", the CDC's Dr. Chris Braden said in a statement.

Some coronavirus test kits shipped around United States are flawed, CDC claims
He or she will remain so until the Maine CDC receives the patient's test results from the CDC's headquarters in Atlanta . Of the total confirmed cases, mainland China accounts for 59,539, while 1,361 of deaths are also on mainland China.

China continues to be the epicenter of the outbreak.

The CDC is working closely with the states to correct the issues in the testing kits, Messonnier said.

"There's been good communication with our colleagues to confirm asymptomatic infection, to confirm asymptomatic transmission, to be able to get a better handle on the clinical spectrum of illness in China".

In the same interview, the top CDC official said US experts have still not been allowed in China to help with the virus outbreak despite numerous offers.

Holland America Line says no known cases of the virus have been confirmed on the ship.
