The retired National Basketball Association star said he encouraged his daughter after she came out to them.

Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union both came publicly this week in strong support of Zaya Wade, the child whom Wade had with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. "And we are proud allies as well". But more than that, Dwyane reiterated into the audience,"We accept our responsibility and roles as parents really seriously". I think that in the future I am ready to live my truth. In an Instagram submit he shared on February 12, Zaire shared two throwback photographs of him and Zaya after they had been little or no. "Man, I keep in mind bugging my mother as a child telling her I wished a brother so unhealthy", he started the caption to his submit. "I want to be referenced as 'she" and 'her.' I would love for you guys to call me Zaya, '" Wade recalled. The 18-year-old posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram page to let everyone know that nothing has changed between him and Zaya, regardless of what people say or think about her.

Wade has two sons, Zaire, 18, Xavier, 6, and custody of his nephew, Dahveon, 17.

The presidential candidate added, 'We're sending all our love and support.

'I think parental support is always great especially in circumstances like this, ' said the rap artist, who made headlines last summer in revealing he's gay amid the worldwide success of his mega-hit, Old Town Road. "Right now it's through us, because she's 12 years old, but eventually it will be through her".

The Wade family has shown a great deal of love, support and respect for Zaya Wade, who has decided the name and pronoun changes in front of the entire world.

The support in the responses to her tweet was overwhelming. "I'd love for you guys to call me Zaya'".

"Thank you for allowing your children to be who they are", another person wrote. "She's compassionate, loving, whip-smart and we are so proud of her".

According to him, Union had used her contacts in the industry to reach out to people who could advise them on how to move forward with the situation and help Zaya become her best self.

"I mean, it's worth it, I feel like it's very worth it, when you reach that point of [accepting] yourself", she concluded.

"With all the bullying with kids and other kinds of stuff, good for her for figuring out that lane of who she wants to be", she said.
