Cheating Astros just don't seem to get it

Cheating Astros just don't seem to get it

The commissioner also has not sought to strip the team of its 2017 World Series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. (That includes those now with other teams.) If that means battling the MLBPA, so be it. Those guys were cheating for three years.

"I lost respect for those guys", Bellinger said. It's not that awards, stats, or recognition would have been taken away from any of the Astros in recent years.

Cody Bellinger, the reigning National League MVP, didn't hold back when commenting about the Houston Astros' sign-stealing methods and ensuing apologies on Friday morning, moments before Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers and catchers conducted their first official workout.

Last month, following a report from Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert Manfred, Crane fired Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and manager A.J. Hinch. They had months to figure out the best way to handle this and they apparently settled on being a real-life version of that GIF where the guy walks to the vehicle with a handful of things only to slip and drop them all in spectacular fashion. Chief among them would be the regret that they got caught.

The Astros won't directly deny wearing buzzers to relay information on signs last season. Now they'll be cheating the fans - not to mention some of their fellow players who have already signaled they aren't going to follow the unwritten rules of baseball silence on this one. Not one got punished. They keep their playoff share.

Markets in Walsall, Bloxwich and Willenhall will be closed on Saturday in light of warnings issued, said Walsall Council. Dudley Zoo said officials would assess the weather conditions and would make a decision on opening by Saturday morning.

Said Bellinger: "I don't know what human hits a walk-off home run against Aroldis Chapman to send your team to the World Series, and 1) has the thought to say, 'Don't rip my jersey off, ' but 2) go into the tunnel, change your shirt, and then come out and do your interview". While the result of those possible games was even at 24-24, what if knowing certain pitches were coming - gaining "extra outs" - helped them attain five-to-eight extra victories?

There has been a lack of contrition from most Houston players, save for current Twin Marwin Gonzalez who at least gets points for saying he's sorry.

When Mike Fiers takes the mound at ballparks across the country this summer, fans in 29 cities (besides Houston) should give him an extra ovation. He snarked at the Yankees' complaints of them cheating in the 2019 ALCS, knowing his team had cheated in the past (and possibly was cheating that season, as well). "It happened, and we ask for forgiveness from everybody and to try to move forward in 2020 and focus on that".

Meanwhile Bregman and Altuve, two of the Astros' best players, expressed contrition for the scandal.
