Two NYPD Officers Shot Within 12 Hours in the Bronx

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was captured after he walked into a police station in the Bronx and started shooting shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday. When an officer answered, the shooter pulled out a gun and fired multiple times without provocation, he said.

A man in a black puffer jacket opened fire on a police officer sitting in a van in New York City in what the mayor called an "assassination attempt".

New York City police officers work the scene of a police involved shooting outside the 41st precinct in New York on February 9, 2020.

A NY police officer was shot in the arm and the suspect was taken into custody, just hours after an unknown assailant opened fire on a marked police van.

The NYPD did not confirm whether the two shootings are connected.

He then walked into an area next to the desk and fired several rounds at point blank range at several more officers and a civilian staffer, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said.

"Sunday morning...should have been a quiet time, and suddenly an assailant arrives with the intention of assassinating police officers and opens fire", said the mayor.

"It's a miracle that we are not here under worse circumstances", he says.

"I have to say it's sad when someone feels they can be openly divisive and get away with it", de Blasio told reporters in Albany, the New York Post reported.

Your iPhone Or Apple Watch May Soon Be Your Car Key
Apple has a mission and that mission is to make it so that people can leave their homes only carrying an iPhone in their pocket. So, your spouse or other family members can use your auto without having to constantly hand over the keys back and forth.

Trump said former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the president's personal lawyer, "did a good job cleaning up the city", but de Blasio is widely unpopular with the city's police department, said Trump. The officer was rushed to hospital and is expected to be discharged in the coming days.

The shooting inside the precinct headquarters came just hours after another attack in the same section of the Bronx, involving a man who bore a close resemblance to the one depicted in the security camera videos.

"He has a very lengthy violent criminal history".

Williams was arrested and convicted for attempted murder in 2002 after shooting an individual, carjacking a vehicle and getting into a gun battle with officers. He was released on parole in 2017.

An NYPD spokesperson said the officer who was injured on Sunday is in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital.

There have been other recent unprovoked attacks on officers sitting in their patrol cars.

The gunman was arrested at the police station.

Police are still investigating the motive for the attacks. "Words matter. And words affect people's behaviour". "You could protest for whatever you believe in, but you cannot vilely attack those who are here to protect us".
