President Trump's budget calls for $11.7 billion foreign aid cut -Officials say it is often wasted. But she also notes that it includes a proposal that would make it harder for some seniors to qualify for long-term care services, for an estimated $34 billion in Medicaid savings.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the deficit is projected to reach $1.02tn this year, as spending of $4.6tn outpaces $3.6tn in tax revenue. The $30.5 trillion gross federal debt anticipated by 2030 - up from $22.7 trillion this fiscal year - would represent 84.6% of gross domestic product, down from 106.9% this year.

The budget proposal for the fiscal year 2021 includes almost $29 billion for nuclear weapons programs, more than half of which will modernize nuclear delivery systems and provide support to ongoing improvements to nuclear command, control, and communications system.

"The president disagrees with the idea that we should continue to have such robust levels of funding in the foreign aid category", Russ Vought, acting director of Office of Management and Budget, told reporters on February 10. But the budget also assumes strong economic growth in the coming years, which the administration projects would help fill federal coffers with rising tax receipts. "Today, President Trump released a budget that cuts Medicare by half a trillion dollars".

Just two days after vowing the White House "will not be touching your Social Security or Medicare" in its budget proposal for fiscal year 2021, President Donald Trump on Monday is expected to unveil a $4.8 trillion blueprint that includes hundreds of billions in combined cuts to those programs over the next decade, deep reductions in safety-net spending, and a major increase in Pentagon funding.

Russell Vought, Trump's acting budget director, said on Monday that the proposal would include over $740 billion for defence spending, including a 20 per cent increase for nuclear modernization.

It also includes a request for an additional $2 billion to fund a wall at the U.S. -Mexico border, down from the $5 billion Trump sought past year.

NY to sue DHS for ban on Trusted Traveler programs
New York State Attorney General Letitia James promised a lawsuit last week and delivered one by Monday. NY governor Andrew Cuomo has criticized the ban on trusted traveler programs.

"Year after year, President Trump's budgets have sought to inflict devastating cuts to critical lifelines that millions of Americans rely on", said Pelosi. During Barack Obama's final year in office, the difference between what the USA took in from tax revenues and what it spent was less than $600 billion.

Where there may be room for compromise: Administration officials reportedly acknowledge that, given the budget deal passed by Congress previous year, this proposal will likely be a non-starter.

"With this 2021 Budget, my administration is placing a special focus on [many] forgotten Americans, because every individual deserves to experience the dignity that comes through work". This is a wish list, saying that, if the president could wave a wand, that this is what he would want to do.

Enzi also lamented Congress' reliance on stopgap spending bills to fund the government and a lack of momentum to tackle mandatory spending, which makes up the vast majority of the federal budget.

Trump proposed spending $1.6 trillion less on future health care spending, including $451 billion less for Medicare. One is "Tax Cuts 2.0", the Trump administration's second-term tax agenda, which it plans to release later this year.

But the budget opens Trump up to plenty of attacks from the left. Sen.
