A British man, whose name hasn't been disclosed, has infected at least 11 persons with the deadly novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

There are now four confirmed cases of the virus in the province, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

China needs more help in containing the coronavirus outbreak, says Fox News contributor Dr. Marc Siegel, associate professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center.

But With the declaration "that the incidence or transmission of novel Coronavirus constitutes a serious and imminent threat to public health", the hospitals in the United Kingdom become legally recognised as "isolation" areas, the Department of Health said in a statement.

The passengers on the charter flight have been taken to the Kents Hill Park hotel and conference centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, where they will be quarantined for 14 days. He was reportedly with his family for four days in a three-story chalet in Contamines-Montjoie, a resort in the Mont Blanc region that offers downhill skiing of 25 lifts as well as cross-country skiing, skating and paragliding.

"All close contacts of these cases are being followed closely by public health officials and remain asymptomatic", said Henry.

Henry said 188 people were on board and that there were no issues during the Vancouver stopover.

While Port Health Authorities and their front line staff are doing a good job in the current climate we do however have some concerns that some would not have adequate resources to deal with the Wuhan Coronavirus should it spread.

The mortality rate of coronavirus is still unknown, though early estimates have put it at around 2%, and case studies of people hospitalized with the virus in Wuhan, China, indicate it may be as high as 4% for those who are ill enough to go to the hospital.

The following day British authorities said four more people in Britain had tested positive for the virus.

Steve Walsh, from Hove in East Sussex, is still in quarantine at Guy's Hospital in London, having contracted the disease at a conference in Singapore.

However, the case of this single traveler from England highlights the importance of rapid cross-border information exchange and detective work to find other potentially vulnerable people. However if the virus spreads to Europe as is predicted local port health authorities will need to manage risks from shorter flights and sailings.

The airline on Monday said flights to and from Beijing and Shanghai had been cancelled until March 31.

The global death toll has now passed 1,000.

The middle-aged man is understood to be the third Briton to have caught coronavirus, which has killed more than 900 and infected 40,710 people worldwide.
