Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins LOKI on Disney Plus

Mbatha-Raw joins a cast that now includes Tom Hiddleston reprising his iconic character, Owen Wilson (Night at the Museum) and Sophia Di Martino (Yesterday, Flowers, Into the Badlands).

Mbatha-Raw is joining quite a small ensemble as of late.

According to Deadline, The Morning Show star Gugu Mbatha-Raw was cast by Marvel to play a prominent character in the series. On the big screen, she most recently starred in Motherless Brooklyn, alongside Edward Norton and Willem Dafoe. Unsurprisingly, the details of her character are being kept under wraps and Marvel representatives have declined to comment.

After Thor's windpipe got crushed in Avengers: infinity war and Loki died, the God of mischief got a second lease on life due to the time travel in Avengers: Endgame.

Interestingly, Rick and Morty's Michael Waldron has signed on as a head writer with Sex Education's Kate Herron on managing the duties, so it could move in a completely different direction to anything we've seen before in the Marvel universe. Debuts on Disney+ next year-2021. The first, "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" will see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles and premiere in August. Additionally, Marvel Studios is developing three more series: "Ms. Marvel", "Moon Knight" and "She-Hulk".
