Google Assistant Ambient Mode is rolling out to recent OnePlus phones

The feature is now rolling out to OnePlus smartphones running Android 8 and above.

OnePlus has partnered with Google to bring Google Assistant's Ambient Mode to its phones. So, don't do anything stupid if you haven't received the feature yet. Select Google Assistant in Settings, tap on the Assistant tab, and click on Phone under Assistant devices to enable Assistant Mode.

Take note that this is a staged rollout and may not be available on all compatible devices immediately. You can activate the feature by plugging in your phone to charge, tapping the notification, and going through the steps.

The feature will now allow users to access various information and suggestions on weather, agenda, entertainment, reminders, and more.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series is launching today & still, leaks won't stop until the phones get launched officially. The ad shows the phone, which comes in black or purple, relaying video calls while folded at various angles.

During the launch of Ambient Mode, Product manager of Google Assistant, Arvind Chandrababu said that with this feature "Android users are moving from an app-based way of doing things to an intent-based way of doing things".

Google announced the Google Assistant-powered Ambient Mode at IFA 2019, and began its limited rollout late a year ago. You don't even have to unlock your phone and fire up apps.

It can also turn your phone into a digital photo frame, or an interface with which you can control your smart home.
