Jessica Simpson held on to diet pills for 20 years after producer Tommy Mottola, Thalia's husband, told her that she should lose weight at the beginning of her career, the singer said in her revealing Open memoir Book.

"Again and again, he told me he was obsessed with me, sexually and emotionally", Simpson writes in her memoir, according to People. "It would start with tickling my back and then go into things that were extremely uncomfortable ..." 'I wanted to tell my parents.

And when she felt unsure of herself, her "anxiety would spike and I would pour another drink". It would be six years until she finally told her mom Tina and dad Joe Simpson the truth during a vehicle trip.

However, Jessica says that Joe "kept his eye on the road and said nothing". "We never stayed at my parents "friends" house again, but neither did we talk about what I said".

USA singer Jessica Simpson has revealed how being sexually assaulted as a child led to a reliance on drugs and alcohol. She did not get sober before 2017, when she had been married with two children.

The star writes frankly about the musician in her new memory, "Open Book", revealing that she fell in love with the hit creator "Your Body Is a Wonderland" after they met at a Grammy Awards party in 2005.

Excerpted in this week's People magazine, Simpson says in the book she began self-medicating with alcohol and pills after dealing with the pain of being sexually abused as a young girl. Her mom reacted by slapping her dad's arm and saying, "I told you something was happening". "And if it's alcohol that's doing this and making things worse, then I quit". I found direction and that was to walk straight ahead with no fear. Along with the book, the singer will also be dropping six corresponding songs.

"It's been a long hard deep emotional journey, one that I've come through the other side with pure happiness and fulfillment and acceptance of myself", she reportedly writes.

Simpson - who welcomed her third child, 10-month-old Birdie, after getting sober - calls her new life "a continual gift".
