Mississippi State said in a statement Tuesday, "Tonight, we mourn the loss of former Bulldog De'Runnya Wilson".

De'Runnya Wilson, 25, was found lifeless Tuesday afternoon by a relative at a residence in Birmingham, where investigators were called for a report of a "person down", police said. "Currently we are in the homicide investigation mode", a Birmingham PD spokesperson said.

Wilson, who played at Mississippi State from 2013-2015, was a three-star recruit as a graduate of Wenonah High School in Birmingham. Wilson finished his career with 1,949 receiving yards on 133 catches and he's just one of nine MSU receivers to have more than 900 yards receiving in a single season. He compiled 132 receptions for 1,936 yards and 22 touchdowns from 2013 to 2015. He left school early to enter the National Football League draft, but went undrafted and later spent time on the Chicago Bears' practice squad.
