Delta gave its employees 2 months’ extra pay

Since 2015, GM (GM), Ford (F) and Fiat Chrysler (FCAU), for example, wrote almost $5 billion (Ksh500) combined in checks to their workers, which is the equivalent of six months' extra pay per employee, according to Automotive News.

According to the spokesperson, the company's bonus for participating in profits is in addition to all other financial benefits that it usually provides to employees, such as match 401 (k) and other bonus programs for ordinary employees.

That means every eligible employee will get a check next month for almost 17 percent of their annual salary. Some make a profit sharing contribution to workers' pension accounts or pay them in stock. CEO Ed Bastian routinely emphasizes the importance of Delta's employees in the airline's success. He further added that they deserve all the credit. Back in 2016, Delta reportedly handed out $1.5 billion to employees.

More than 90,000 employees of Delta will receive the bonus payment on Valentine's Day during the company's annual profit sharing celebration.

Compared to other American carriers, Delta is at the forefront when it comes to profit sharing and maintaining excellent employee relationships.

"I was beaten up by Wall Street for years".

According to a 2018 survey conducted by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, 38% of adult U.S. workers said they receive cash profit-sharing, but the median amount reported was just $2,000, or 5% of pay. They thought the profits were theirs, and 'Why are you giving the profits away to the employees?' Bastian said at Monday's event, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Wall Street has actually come full circle, and they realize that Delta is the most awarded airline in the world because of its employees".

Delta did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Bastian has been with the airline for 20 years and stated that his most important role has been to "take care of our people, so that they can continue to take great care of our customers", according to his LinkedIn profile. This is it. And I'm having a blast with it.

While it is not the only company to offer a cash-based profit-sharing plan, the payouts are not generally this high.
