Two Police Officers Killed in A Devastating Shooting, Stabbing and Fire Incident

Two police officers were killed in a shooting Sunday in the normally peaceful Honolulu, Hawaii's governor said in a statement.

The FBI said authorities were responding to an "active shooter" in Waikiki, Hawaii. "We are thankful for the dedication of police responders and other first responders in serving to protect our communities".

A female officer was reportedly taken to a hospital in critical condition and died from her injuries.

The tragic events unfolded after he stabbed his landlady when she tried to evict him and then allegedly started shooting at the police officers. Those flames spread quickly to several nearby homes as firefighters struggled to gain access to the site. Moments later two more officers arrived, and Felix said he then heard two gunshots.

Vehicles, including a Honolulu Police vehicle, were also burning. Thick black smoke could be seen from miles away.

"I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the two officers as well as the entire Honolulu Police Department".

"My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the Honolulu Police Department officers who were killed and all who were injured during the Diamond Head incident today-my heart aches for all who are involved", Pine said, according to the Star-Advertiser.

Several were crying, and Ballard could be seen hugging those arriving at the emergency room.

A fire that appears to have been set during the incident near the city's upscale neighborhood of Diamond Head on Sunday morning appeared to have spread to multiple homes, NBC affiliate KHNL reported. Several other homes and HPD vehicles were damaged by the blaze.
