4 killed, 1 wounded in Utah home shooting

Investigators are confident there was only one shooter and there is no further danger to the community, said police Cpl. Rhonda Fields with the Grantsville Police Department.

It appears to be the largest mass shootout in Utah since 2007 when a shotgun armed gunman killed five people and himself in the Trolley Square mall in Salt Lake City.

In the town of Grantsville there are about 11 thousand people. Police were not able to release his identity because he has been charged as a juvenile. His relationship with the victims was not immediately clear.

Fields told ABC News the investigation is ongoing and that because a majority of the victims are juveniles, their names won't be released at this time.

Authorities have not been called to the house in the past.

"I just can't believe that it happened", she said.

KUTV reported that it was possible that the suspected shooter was apprehended at the hospital.

Officials arrested the boy in the hospital. He was being held at a youth detention facility.

The fifth victim had sustained a gunshot wound but was in stable condition and expected to survive, Fields said.

Bahe said the kids were quiet, shy, intelligent and kind - she often saw them out helping neighbors with yardwork and other things.

The incident, which is being investigated as a homicide, took place at a residence in Grantsville, Utah, Friday at about 7.30pm.

Utah Gov. Herbert Gary Herbert tweeted Friday night: "Our hearts are broken by the awful news coming out Grantsville tonight".
