Manchester United closing in on signing of star Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes

The Premier League heavyweights are only willing to shell out €50 million upfront to land the Portuguese worldwide, while Sporting Lisbon want a €65 million initial fee instead.

Another lengthy tribute dedicated to the man in charge of United's transfer business - though not even using his first name - began with the line: "Woodward's incompetence".

There's a huge disparity between reported fee demands and the makeup of the deal. He has scored 15 goals in 26 games this season.

Manchester United do appear to be in need of a player like Fernandes, with midfield a department that is in desperate of reinforcements.

Manchester United transfer in jeopardy?

"Bruno does the work of two or three players".

Former Congressman Chris Collins sentenced to 26 months in prison
The former NY 27th district representative pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy and false-statement charges on October 1, 2019. According to the Inner City Press, Collins said: "I am standing here, probably the last time I will do anything in public".

Paul Pogba, the club's record transfer, has been absent through injury for much of the campaign, while players like Fred, Nemanja Matic and Andreas Pereira have been criticized for below-par performances. But comments from Fernandes' manager aren't the only thing which Manchester United fans will want to be aware of heading into the weekend.

The 25-year-old is understood to have agreed personal terms for a £120,000 per week deal ($156,000) at Old Trafford.

It's suggested that the deal United want to complete would include a £34m fee upfront, while another £25.5m would be tied up in add-ons.

Sporting consider United's bonus payment structure unrealistic given how far away Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are from winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

Manchester United are now in the market for a midfield signing and want to complete one in the ongoing January transfer window.
