Sporting coach: 'Fernandes not worth the money you are talking about...'

Sporting CP coach Silas has said only a "catastrophe" would prevent Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes from missing Friday's league derby against Benfica.

Fernandes was set to feature in Friday's clash with rivals Benfica, but the report claims he could now miss the match with the deal close to being completed.

"Bruno is not worth the money that is being said, he is worth a lot more", Silas said.

Fernandes, who's scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions this season, possesses the creativity and deadly finishing traits Solkjaer's midfield is now short of. "We have prepared the game with him, he has trained very well, he is an extraordinary player, the best in the league".

"In addition to attacking he also sacrifices himself to defend".

The world's second-largest economy grew 6.1% in 2019, the slowest in 29 years but still within the government's target of 6-6.5%. Retail sales rose 8.0 percent in December on-year, compared with forecasts for 7.8 percent and November's 8.0 percent.

The 25-year-old midfielder netted 31 goals last term, including 20 in Primeira Liga.

United representatives were in Lisbon on Thursday night as the two clubs tried to thrash out a deal after reaching a sticking point over the fee.

"If he could score 10-15 goals a season like Paul Scholes used to do or when Wayne Rooney did when he played in the deeper role it would be a great help to the team".

According to The Mirror, Sporting have placed fresh demands on the table and they are understood to want an initial £55m package for the player compared to United's proposal of £50m.

It wouldn't be surprising if the club does make any signings that it'll happen towards the end of the transfer window rather than as soon as possible.
