'Joker' Leads Packed Oscar Nominations List With 11

In 2018, Time's Up's presence at the Golden Globes - where A-list actors wore black in support of victims of sexual harassment - put pressure on the film industry to question its sexism in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, with the Time's Up campaign getting a moment of attention at the 2018 Oscars too.

Issa Rae did not shy away from calling out the snub given to female directors after she congratulated the male directors for their nominations in the Best Director category.

Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Hollywood) and Bong Joon Ho (Parasite) - all men - scored nominations.

To many, the statement recalled the one made by Natalie Portman on the Oscars stage two years ago, when she introduced the category saying, "And here are the all-male nominees".

The nominees for best supporting actor are: Tom Hanks, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood"; Anthony Hopkins, "The Two Popes,"; Brad Pitt, "Once Upon a Hollywood"; Joe Pesci, "The Irishman"; Al Pacino, "The Irishman".

School expels teen after she posed with rainbow cake
The Kentucky school is pushing back- calling it "inaccurate" that the student was expelled exclusively for the social media post . Alford has said that the shirt and cake were not used to make a statement about orientation and that her daughter is not gay.

Netflix looks like a serious contender at this year's Academy Awards, with its films receiving 24 nominations - more than any other Hollywood studio. And now the cast of Little Women have broken their silence on the subject. The absence yet again of any female directors in the category is glaring, but the snub of Gerwig, 36, who recently won the best directing award for Little Women from the National Society of Film Critics, is particularly noticeable.

Bigelow is the only woman to win best director in the 90-year history of the Academy Awards. Saoirse Ronan is referencing Greta Gerwig's movies Little Women and Lady Bird, both of which she starred in. So while Little Women has a whopping six Oscar nominations, there's still something that doesn't feel quite right.

Gerwig ultimately scored a nominations in the best adapted screenplay category.

Renee Zellweger was nominated for her portrayal of showbiz legend Judy Garland in Judy - for which she also already received a Golden Globe at the beginning of January.

Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell), Laura Dern (Marriage Story), Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit), Margot Robbie (Bombshell) and Florence Pugh (Little Women) were selected for best supporting actress. "She is the most brilliant creative talent working in our industry today, and we are thrilled that she and our lovely film have been recognised".
