Bose in big store closing move; cites 'dramatic' shift online

A recent report by Gartner said that Bose has been very effective at reaching digital customers both on Amazon and through its own online store.

In 2016, the Telegram noted that Bose used 10,500 employees in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Bose products are currently available in Ireland via numerous retailers and audio specialists, though Dundrum Shopping Centre in Dublin houses a dedicated Bose store which is now expected to close.

A selection of stores, 130 to be precise, will remain open.

Bose's website lists three stores in New England: at the Burlington Mall, Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, and New Hampshire's Merrimack Premium Outlets. "It is still hard, because the conclusion impacts a number of our incredible shop teams that make us proud daily".

The news is obviously awful for Bose Australia retail employees who will lose their jobs and comes shortly after EB Games announced it will close 19 stores, and retailer JeansWest announced its closure as well.

As reported by The Verge, Bose has confirmed to the publication that it planning to close its several retail stores in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Closures are expected to take place over the next several months, according to the company, which opened its first retail store in the U.S. in 1993.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid Dismissed As Potential Juror In Harvey Weinstein Trial
The appellate court denied Weinstein's earlier request to move the trial last fall. He is, however, being tried on charges related to just two.

"As smartphones changed the industry, the company's focus turned to mobile, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi solutions", Bose said.

The drastic measure is a result of the company's products being "increasingly purchased through e-commerce".

Colette Burke, Bose's vice president of global sales, said the decision was "difficult" and the company is "grateful" for its store employees.

"They take care of everyone who walks through our doors - be they helping with a problem, giving competent advice, or just giving someone a break and listening to great music".

To that effect, Bose says it wants to meet customers where they want and is shifting its focus to its e-commerce presence and sales. However, they will be offered severance and outplacement assistance.

Though the intention of the company is to promote online selling, employees from the soon-to-be-closed retail stores seemed to be disappointed with the decision as hundreds of them will be set to lay off once this is applied.
