Wendy Williams comment on Joaquin Phoenixs cleft lip sparks outrage

Presenter Wendy Williams sparked outrage for pulling her upper lip to mimic the Oscar-nominated actor's microform cleft lip during the "Hot Topics" segment of her show on January 7.

The discussion came about when Williams was talking about Beyoncé refusing to stand for the Joker star after he was announced as the victor of the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) at the 2020 Golden Globes earlier this month.

"When he shaves off his moustache he's got a hairline fracture" she said beginning her barrage of insults.

Adding, "He's got one of those - what do you call it?"

Williams also encouraged her viewers to learn more and support the cleft community. Now, almost a week later, fans and activists are making an uproar about Williams' taunting comments that affect children around the globe. A cleft lip (a slit or opening above the lip) and a cleft palate (a slit within the roof of a mouth), typically give youngsters "issues with feeding and talking clearly and might have ear infections", and the opportunity of "listening to issues and issues with their enamel", based on the Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention (CDC).

Vorderman asked Wendy if she had "any idea" how painful and grueling the process was for children to deal with a cleft palate as they become an adult. He has one of those - what do you call it?

It's no surprise that the Giants have a healthy respect for Garrett. "I certainly wouldn't have any objection to that", Mara said. Garrett's experience as a head coach could serve as an asset to Judge, who has never been a head coach at any level.

Social media is not feeling Wendy Williams' latest gaffe.

While the specific causes of cleft lips and cleft palates are still relatively unknown, experts believe that some children are born with the orofacial clefts because of a change in their genes, or a combination of genes and environmental factors like what the mother eats or drinks, or which medications she takes during pregnancy, the CDC says. After her apology, he said he forgave the host.

After facing strong criticism, Williams wrote on Twitter that she wanted to "apologise to the cleft community".

Williams has now issued an apology and said that she will be donating to Operation Smile and American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.

The 45-year-old actor Joaquin Phoenix who essayed the character named Arthur Fleck in the highly appreciated film Joker, never openly spoke about the scar on his lip.
