Sensor Tower: Worldwide app downloads increases 9.1% in 2019

As per report, there will be no separate app for Disney Plus as the whole catalog will be available on Hotstar. These were predominantly from the Google Play Store, with only around 30 million from the App Store.

According to a new report from mobile app store marketing firm Sensor Tower, Disney+ became the most downloaded app in the United States for the quarter with a total of 31 million downloads across Apple's App Store and Google Play.

WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram still occupied four of the Top 5 spots, but this time TikTok jumped from fourth in 2018 to second in 2019 due to its popularity in markets like India, United States, and Brazil.

More impressive is the fact that Disney+ only launched on November 12, which is well into the measure period of October 1-December 31, and is now only available in five markets. The app had more than 12 times as many U.S. downloads in November as HBO Now had for the launch of the final season of Game of Thrones in April 2019.

Though it was a collective failure from team India, opener Shikhar Dhawan emerged as great positive for the home side. He struck the first blow with the new ball when he sent back Rohit Sharma for 10.

The revenue from TikTok grew 540% yearly, but most of that comes from China, where the app also offers in-app purchases of whatever people are selling or influencing. Two months after its entrance into the streaming video on demand, the mobile app service has been downloaded almost 41 million times across the App Store.

Via Apple and Google, the 30 million-plus mobile downloads accounted for 34% of the market and exceeded the total downloads for Hulu and Amazon Prime Video in all of 2019.

It shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone the least bit familiar with this industry that Call of Duty: Mobile copiously dominated every single Q4 2019 chart for games, winning the worldwide, US, and Europe download trophies across both Android and iOS.
