Australia's Warner and Finch smash tons to thrash India in first ODI

On the first delivery of the 25th over, Rahul faltered behind the wickets as he failed to collect an inside edge off Australia opening batsman David Warner's bat on the bowling of India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia made short work of the target, racing to a resounding victory in 37.4 overs with David Warner (128 not out off 112) and Finch (110 not out off 114) smashing unbeaten centuries, making the Indian attack look rather ordinary.

Wicketkeeper Pant - who suffered a concussion after top-edging Cummins onto his helmet and into the hands of Ashton Turner - was unable to take the field for Australia's reply, with Rahul taking over the gloves in his absence.

Though it was a collective failure from team India, opener Shikhar Dhawan emerged as great positive for the home side.

It is the first time Australia have beaten India by 10 wickets in an ODI and the first time India have been on the receiving end of such a defeat since 2005.

Warner reached his 18th ODI hundred off 88 balls.

Marleau became the fifth National Hockey League player to appear in 1,700 games and the youngest to do so (40 years, 118 days). As for Paveslski, fans showered him with a thunderous welcome following a two-minute video tribute before the opening faceoff.

"We were totally outplayed in all three departments". He struck the first blow with the new ball when he sent back Rohit Sharma for 10. It formed part of a collapse of 4-30 that killed India's momentum.

Cummins and Kane Richardson (2-43) shared four wickets as the India middle order was exposed.

"'We've had this discussion many times in the past as well", Kohli said about Rahul's batting position.

"See that is a captain's choice, KL is batting well, he did well in the last series and he played really well and he played well today".
