Sam Springsteen -- Bruce's son -- is now a firefighter in New Jersey

The mayor Jersey City, New Jersey, swore in 15 new firefighters - and one of them was Bruce Springsteen's son.

The 70-year-old rocker and Patti, 66, sat in the front row as Sam, 26, was sworn into the newest class at City Hall during a ceremony with Mayor Steven Fulop.

Springsteen, 25, was sworn in as a new minister on Tuesday.

Bruce Springsteen told reporters at the ceremony that "we're very proud" and that "we're just excited for him today".

Jersey City officials said it was the fire department's 10th class since Fulop, 42. took office.

Last summer on Instagram, Scialfa posted congratulations to their youngest child, writing, "You followed your dreams".

With his proud parents Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa and brother Evan in the audience, Sam was one of 15 new firefighters sworn in by Mayor Steven Fulop and Public Safety Director James Shea.

"It's my son's day, so I'm staying away", said Bruce Springsteen.

New Jersey native Bruce and Patti also have daughter Jessica, 28, together.

Since graduating from the fire academy, Sam has volunteered at the Colts Neck Fire Department, the Long Branch Fire Department and the North Wildwood Fire Department, and along with another firefighter, saved a fisherman who was stuck in the mud while at the NWFD, the Cape May County Herald reported 2016.
