Sania Mirza makes winning return to WTA circuit at Hobart

Sania Mirza has been shouldering the hopes of countless tennis fans throughout her illustrious career which looked to be on the verge of an end for the past year and a half.

Tennis star Sania Mirza marked her return to the court with a victory after a gap of two years as her son Izhaan Mirza Malik cheered for her in Australia.

The 33-year-old Mirza is playing at her first tournament since the China Open in October 2017 and is using a protected ranking.

As for the match, the pair was up against Miyu Kato and Oksana Kalashnikova, as they started on a shaky note, losing the opening set 2-6. However, they pulled things back in the second set, winning it 7-6 (3).

In the final set, they carried on with the momentum to outplay their opponents, winning 10-3.

Now the Sania Mirza duo will face off in opposition to America's Vania King and Christina McHale.

Sania was on a break for two years owing to her pregnancy.

Soon after, Mirza was pregnant and had to sit out in 2018 and 2019 completely.

The Hobart International will give Sania the competitive vibe necessary for the upcoming Australian Open too.

For your information, let us tell you that Sania, who has taken Indian tennis to new heights, has been number one in doubles and is a six-time Grand Slam victor.

She also reacted to her win on her official Instagram profile.

Considering Sania's tennis career, she has a fine career, having won three women's doubles Slam titles.

In 2007, she attained a career-high 27th position in the WTA singles chart.
