Since making his Test debut in January 2018, Bumrah has played 12 Tests and already taken 62 wickets at an average of 19.24 including five five-wicket hauls.

This award is another another feather in the leg spinner's cap Poonam who recently received the Arjuna Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of National Sports Day past year.

India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on January 12 headlined the BCCI Annual Awards function, grabbing the prestigious Polly Umrigar award apart from annexing the Dilip Sardesai honour for his exploits in global cricket in the 2018-19 season. With 34 wickets in six Test matches he played in 2018/19 season, Bumrah was Team India's top bowler and played a pivotal role in India scripting history to become firs-ever Asian team to defeat Australia Down Under. The award will be another feather in the leg-spinner's cap who received the Arjuna Award in August 2019.

Former Indian captains Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Anjum Chopra receive the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award and the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award for women.

For the last four years, the award has belonged to India captain Virat Kohli, who has won it a record five times. In a profession spanning 17 years, Anjum represented India in 4 50-over World Cups and two T20 World Cup (performed in a single).

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah said he is "grateful and honoured" after bagging two accolades during the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual Awards on Sunday.

Executive Secretary Jay Shah said: "The BCCI Awards are an important feature of the Indian cricket calendar, a mixture of aspiration and inspiration".

Virender Sharma was adjudged the best umpire in domestic cricket while Vidarbha Cricket Association were presented the best performance award in domestic cricket for wining the Ranji Trophy.

"We wanted to make Naman bigger and better, and we launched four new categories this year - the highest run getters and wicket takers in WODIs and the best worldwide debut men and women".

"We have started the year on the right note with Team India completing a convincing series win against Sri Lanka and they will be in attendance. It will be a special evening and I congratulate the award winners".
