Aston Villa confirm Pepe Reina move

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has joined Aston Villa on a short-term deal from AC Milan.

Reina was at Villa Park on Sunday to watch Villa lose to Manchester City 6-1, a day after dropping into the bottom three in the league.

"Early in the summer we were looking for an experienced goalie and brought Tom Heaton".

English Premier League side Aston Villa announced the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina for the rest of 2019-2020 season.

He went on to say that "Pepe fits our criteria not just because of his experience but also because of his leadership qualities." .

The England intentional then suffered a knee injury in he 2-1 win against his former team Burnley that ruled him out for the season.

A move to AC Milan followed, but Reina only presented once for the Serie A club this quarter.

Begovic, who has 18 months left on his contract, had just returned to Bournemouth after spending the first half of the season on loan in Azerbaijan with FK Qarabag.

Begovic has made 62 appearances for Bournemouth since he moved to the Vitality Stadium from Chelsea in the summer of 2017.
