Trump says he doesn't care if Iran will negotiate with US

The embassy is the most prominent display of American presence in a country'.

Trump and his administration argue that Soleimani was planning "imminent" attacks on the USA, with the president saying that regional US embassies were going to be targeted. Does the Trump Administration's Strategy Work? "I don't recall, frankly, in that briefing there being a specific discussion about bombing the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad". Washington considered both commanders to be behind the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on December 31.

O'Brien would then echo Esper's argument that the administration had "exquisite intelligence" on Iran's threats that Trump's interpretation of the intelligence is "consistent".

In appearances on Sunday news shows, both Esper and national security adviser Robert O'Brien said they agreed that Iran might have hit more than just the U.S. Embassy in the Iraqi capital.

The police said that the objective of his intentions towards the US President is the subject of the investigation.

Administration officials say the way O'Brien steered the White House through the Iran crisis endeared himself to Trump and widened his growing influence in the West Wing.

Twelve dead, 21 Rescued as Migrant Boat Sinks off Greek Island
Another 73 persons were saved in separate incidents in the Aegean among Friday and Saturday, the Greek coastguard continued. A dozen migrants have been found dead after their boat sank off the Greek island of Paxos, the country's coastguard said.

"So we're going to be circumspect", he said.

"We had exquisite intelligence and the intelligence showed that they were looking at USA facilities throughout the region and that they wanted to inflict casualties on American soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, as well as diplomats", O'Brien said. "Sometimes it depends on how the questions are asked and how they are formulated", he said. The plane was shot down shortly after Iran launched attacks on USA bases in Iraq in retaliation for the murder of Soleimani.

O'Brien said Iran's response was "typical" and that the protests are adding to the pressure the Iranian government is facing on the economic front. "What the president said was that he believed there might have been attacks against additional embassies", Esper said in an interview on CBS's "Face the Nation". That information was shared with the Gang of Eight. Calling it "kind of a Washington story", he said that "rather than have a short-term political win - release the intelligence and say I told you so - we want to keep Americans safe". When it comes to information that could lead to a potential war in Iran, he said, "that's a unsafe thing to do".

O'Brien suggested that the United States sees this moment as an opportunity to further intensify the pressure on Iran's leaders, with whom the U.S. has been at odds for four decades. 'What the president said was he believed it probably could have been. "So, that was news to me", Republican Sen. "It certainly wasn't something I recall being raised in the classified briefing". He did not cite any specific intelligence during the interview. "It sounds to me that the government is going to panic a bit about the correctness of their reasoning and decide to share information with Fox News that they are unwilling to share with Congress".

Killing Soleimani did eliminate "one of our worst enemies in the Middle East ..."
