First Official Trailer For 'Morbius' Starring Jared Leto Is Here

In the new movie, we will see the origin story of Morbius (played by Jared Leto) as Sony continues to build out its own cinematic universe with characters from the Spider-Man comics. Sony has made no bones about the fact that they want to make a big interconnected universe of Spider-Man movies, and Keaton's appearance in Morbius is a huge step in that direction, and seemingly sets the stage for both to return together in either the next Spider-Man film or in a standalone movie about Spidey's villains. Which may actually happen soon, as the first look as Leto as the famed Marvel vampire has leaked online prior to the release of the first trailer, which is expected to drop this week. In the comics, the famed scientist Dr. Michael Morbius attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease and consequently developed a form of vampirism instead.

Obviously, it seems the scene references the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home where Peter was set up as the killer of Mysterio; however, what is odd, is that the suit in the Morbius trailer is not that of Tom Holland, but again, from the PS4 skin of the 2000s' Toby Maguire Spider-Man suit. The character was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane and first featured in "Amazing Spider-Man".

Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Here's hoping Morbius can deliver something similarly entertaining despite all its brooding and bats and Leto-as-Cool-Jesus angst. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
