Terrell Suggs released by Cardinals

Terrell Suggs released by Cardinals

He started all 13 games for Arizona this season and recorded 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 37 tackles.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said the decision to release Suggs was mutual between the player and organization and the Cardinals wanted him to have a chance to land with a team that's in playoff contention.

Suggs played at Arizona State and Chandler Hamilton High School.

The Cardinals were the NFL's worst team last season and are 3-9-1 at the bottom of an ultracompetitive NFC West this time around.

"It's disappointing we didn't win more games, obviously, as the season's gone on", Kingsbury said. In fairness to him, to try to find a better fit right now, we released Terrell.

Sam Beal and DeAndre Baker probably would start at the cornerback spots if Jenkins can not play. The Giants (2-11) are looking to snap a nine-game skid on Sunday.

Suggs, 37, will be available on waivers and could now join a playoff-bound team, such as the Ravens.

"I just have so much respect for him and what he brought, and wanted to give him that opportunity".

The seven-time Pro Bowler racked up 18 sacks across his last two years with Baltimore.

The Cardinals host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
