Wetherspoon to create 10000 jobs by 2024

United Kingdom pub chain JD Wetherspoon has said it will create 10,000 jobs in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland over the next four years.

Its founder, Tim Martin who lives in Exeter, said: "We are looking forward to opening many more new pubs as well as investing in existing pubs over the next four years".

It plans about 60 new pubs, and at least four new hotels.

The pub chain has faced investor unrest over £95,000 of pro-Brexit spending on beermats, posters and booklets during the 2016 referendum campaign.

The chain, run by Brexiteer Tim Martin, will spend the enormous sum over the subsequent 4 years, creating round 10,000 new jobs throughout the UK.

Last year, Wetherspoon's spent £26.7mln investing in new pubs.

Wetherspoon operates 875 pubs and 58 hotels across the United Kingdom and Ireland with a staff of 44,000.

The investment is expected to create approximately 10,000 new jobs.

But the investment aims to focus on broadening its estate in small and medium-sized towns but will also include large towns and cities too.

In addition, it would also be investing in major cities including London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Leeds and Galway, it added.

Areas signposted for openings include Bourne, Lincolnshire; Waterford, Ireland; Hamilton, South Lanarkshire; Ely, Cambridgeshire; Diss, Norfolk; Felixstowe, Suffolk; Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire; and Prestatyn, Denbighshire.
