Steven Gerrard close to signing Rangers extension

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard confirmed he is on the verge of signing a new deal at Ibrox - and says three of his Ibrox stars are set to follow suit.

Rangers are now in second place in the Scottish Premiership table and two points behind leaders Celtic. Talks have been pretty straight forward and positive.

Rangers are aiming to bounce back quickly from the heartbreak of losing to 10-man Celtic in Gerrard's first final as a manager.

Michael Owen is backing Rangers to seal their spot in the last 32 of the Europa League with a home win over Young Boys on Thursday night.

"I've enjoyed my time here".

"I don't think you can ever criticise a footballer or a team for being visibly upset", said the Rangers manager. He's been a massive player for us and he's bailed us out when we've needed help.

Wednesday's attack comes as the United States resumed talks with the Taliban in Qatar's capital Doha on Saturday. There were no coalition casualties and the base remains secure, the statement said.

"At a club like Rangers you have to take the rough with the smooth, we are trying to create a real humble squad".

Gerrard has robustly defended his players from criticism of their public show of emotion and feels it reinforces his belief they share his ambition for the club. We are ready to go.

New 12-month contracts for goalkeeper McGregor, 37, and 34-year-old midfielder Davis have also been agreed, according to Gerrard.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: "A draw will be enough to see Rangers qualify but Steven Gerrard's Rangers will top the group with a win, and I expect them to bounce back from their Hampden Park loss to Celtic on Sunday".

"So I think they are getting closer and I think Gerrard signing for another four years is brilliant news for the Rangers fans".

"Jermain's is a bit different because he's obviously a Bournemouth's player until the end of the year".
