On Tuesday the 10th of December, Asian heavyweights Vietnam and Indonesia locked horns against each other in the final of the SEA Games 2019 Men's football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, Philippines.

The Filipino squad secured their playoffs spot after getting a draw against Thailand despite a tough group.

Sibol began their Playoff journey against Vietnam in the lower bracket semifinals.

The big turning point in the game came in the 20th minute when Indonesian star Evan Dimas had to go off injured, and that gave Vietnam the ideal opportunity to seize a stranglehold on the match.

Uy - who is just 25 years old and hails from Kettering, Ohio - cleared 4.25-meters to win gold and set the record.

Malaysia's medal haul was way below the overall target of 70 gold, 51 silver and 105 bronze announced by Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman at the SEA Games contingent final gathering on November 21 before they flew out to the Philippines.

Both teams showed why they deserved the gold medal in an exciting series but in the end, Sibol stood tall and on top of the podium, Sibol truly did the home crowd proud as they showed their strength with a 3-2 victory over Indonesia.

With that, Vietnam also won their first-ever gold medal in Men's football in the history of the SEA Games, and the Games also had their first new victor in Men's football since Indonesia's victory in 1993.
