Despite growing awareness of climate change and warnings from scientists that drastic action needs to be taken to avert extreme temperature increases by the end of the century, only a handful of countries will be represented at the United Nations climate summit this year by their prime ministers or presidents, worrying some observers.

"If necessary and strongly enhanced climate finance and loss and damage support by the wealthy nations for the poorer countries were to be included also the various higher ranking European countries would be performing much lower in the scores", Singer said.

Some say we have to wait for people to get ready for change.

"Their future has already been diminished by our past", he said at an event alongside Bloomberg.

HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie stressed Qatar's keenness to play its role as an active partner with the worldwide community in tackling the impacts of climate change, in line with the principles of the United Nations Convention.
