A recall has been issued for the Fresh Express brand Sunflower Crisp Chopped Kit due to possible E. coli contamination.

The product in question is the Fresh Express Sunflower Crisp Chopped Salad Kits.

Canadians are advised not to eat the recalled product.

Health officials are investigating 16 cases of E. coli in five eastern provinces stemming from packaged salad. Sixteen people from Newfoundland/Labrador to Ontario have gotten sick. The packages have a lot code that begins with "Z" and lists Salinas as a source for the Romaine lettuce used in the salad mix.

All those affected by the recent eight-person outbreak were infected with a strain of E.coli that is different from the one that sickened customers who reported eating the Salinas-grown lettuce, according to a CDC news release. This product is not likely to be available at retail stores, but may still be in consumer's homes even though most growers we speak to in California have fully transitioned to Yuma, Arizona.

Zelensky comments on complexity of "border" issue in Donbas settlement talks
The Kremlin insists that's not an option, and the separatists hope that Russia, France and Germany refuse Zelenskiy's requests. At the same time, Zelensky says, Putin has a "different vision": "In a sense, we fell hostage to Minsk".

It is warning consumers not to eat any products that have a best before date leading up to December 7, 2019 with a lot code beginning with the letter "Z, ' indicating 'Salinas" as a source of Romaine lettuce.

The sick range in age from 11 to 73 years old.

The CIFA said recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased. Severe cases of the illness can lead to seizures, strokes, kidney damage and death.

Symptoms may include severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea (often with blood in the stool).

"Most people who become ill from an E. coli infection will recover completely on their own".
