Walmart Canada apologizes for ugly Christmas sweater

"We all know how snow works".

On the one that caused offense, Santa had something in his hand, with the words "LET IT SNOW" printed underneath him on the blue knitted top. The phrase "Let It Snow" is also printed near the bottom of the sweater.

The company said the sweaters do not represent its values.

Part of the description said, "The best snow comes straight from South America".

The sweaters were apparently priced between $9.99 and $19.99, but are now listed as either sold out or unavailable.

"That's bad news for jolly old St Nick, who lives far away in the North Pole".

Walmart did not respond to a question regarding the approval process for products and sellers its Marketplace website. It added "Santa really likes to savor the moment when he gets his hands on some quality, grade-A, Colombian snow".

"Selling "Christmas ornaments" with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate".

Many of these clothing items that do not meet Walmart's more "family-friendly" image can still be found on Amazon.com, including some of the "ugly" Christmas sweaters.

"He packs it in ideal lines on his coffee table and then takes a big whiff to smell the high quality aroma of the snow".

Walmart has gone through similar issues with items being sold on its portal in the past.

The big-box retailer has allowed third-party sellers to sell their products on a portal called Walmart Marketplace, and the retailer has final say over what gets sold on the portal.

And it's not the first time this holiday season that a third-party seller has brought scrutiny to a major online retailer.

Other designs include Santa sitting on the chimney as if it was a toilet, Santa's trousers appearing to rip as he struggles down the chimney, and one that shows Santa delivering the middle finger underneath the word "Naughty".
