Virat Kohli Dethrones Steve Smith To Regain Top Spot In Test Rankings

Indian skipper Virat Kohli reclaimed his spot in ICC Test rankings by replacing Steve Smith from the No. 1 spot. Jasprit Bumrah, who has not played for India since the tour of West Indies, has managed to stay in the top 10 and is still holding the fifth position. Kohli who slammed his 41st century as captain in the day-night Test in Kolkata against Bangladesh reached 928 points to go past Steve Smith's while the latter slipped from 931 points to 923 following his dip in form. Cheteshwar Pujara has held on to his fourth spot, while Ajinkya Rahane has come down a spot to sixth in the latest update.

Warner rose an impressive 12 places to fifth after making a sensational 335 against Pakistan, while fellow Aussie Marnus Labuschagne makes the top 10 for the first time in his career. The first game shared a position of 361 in the second wicket with Marnus Labuschagne, whose stroke of 162 has led him to the top 10 for the first time, is eighth.

Australia ace opener David Warner on Wednesday grabbed the 5th position in the ICC Test rankings after a couple of top-notch performances in the recently concluded home Test series against Pakistan. He scored 226 against New Zealand in the Hamilton Test thus taking the seventh spot on the table. For New Zealand, Ross Taylor has gained two places to reach 16th among batsmen and Tim Southee has moved up one place to 13th among bowlers.
