New York Knicks fire head coach David Fizdale

The David Fizdale era is over in NY, as the Knicks fired the head coach following a disastrous 4-18 start to the season.

The Knicks lost eight straight games, including a 129-92 loss to Denver on Thursday night that dropped the team to an Eastern Conference-worst 4-18, which is tied for the worst record in franchise history.

Fizdale was 21-83 in less than two seasons as Knicks coach, and he is owed the remainder of his four-year, $22 million contract. His.202 winning percentage is the worst in the team's history.

The Knicks also fired assistant coach Keith Smart, according to the team's statement. While assistant Mike Miller (not that one) will take over in the interim, one former Knicks player has already begun his campaign to get the full-time job: Metta World Peace.

The mark makes him the heaviest champion to enter a title defence aside from Nikolay Valuev, who was seven-feet tall. Heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr weighed in at 128.3 kilograms, 6 kilograms heavier than the first fight.

For weeks, Fizdale has been walking a razor's edge.
