YouTube abandons old format with Rewind 2019 to avoid another disaster

In the caption, YouTube admits last year's video was not its best work: "In 2018, we made something you didn't like". This year's Rewind seems like an attempt by YouTube to distance itself from claims of censorship or tonedeafness, instead allowing YouTube to be presented as it really is: a weird mish-mash of grown men yelling at video games, ascendant K-pop groups, Brazilian party houses, and at least one old man making slime.

The move came after the 2018 YouTube Rewind scored as the most-disliked video ever in the platform's history.

YouTube Rewind 2019 highlights different categories including the most-viewed creators on the platform - led by PewDiePie (with 4 billion views), who was absent from the Rewind video a year ago.

In 2019, YouTube is taking a more analytic approach, honoring the most-watched creators, most-watched videos, and channels that broke out in 2019. "Boy With Luv" also was the second most-liked music video after Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's "Señorita".

There also seemed to be a reluctance to include more controversial YouTube stars past year, which is why lots of people gave the video a thumbs down.

Bucks beat Pistons for 13th straight win
The reigning MVP shot 10 of 14 from the field, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range, while playing 22 minutes. That included a 50-point outburst against Utah, the second 50-point game of his career.

Previous year he was involved in a high-profile online battle with Indian music channel T-Series in the race for 100 million subscribers.
