Status Orange weather warning issued for eight counties as Storm Atiyah approaches

Met Éireann's official forecasting partner in Britain has also issued Storm Atiyah weather warnings.

A Yellow national severe weather warning for wind has been issued for the south west of England and west coast of Wales including Flintshire.

Met Eireann says that Storm Atiyah will track between Iceland and Ireland on Sunday, generating a swathe of very strong winds across the country.

On Monday there will be morning showers, but it will be dry and bright later with brisk north-westerly winds.

"Winds are expected to gust to 50-60mph inland, and perhaps 70mph around some coasts".
