New League of Legends games on the way, Riot confirms

As was previously rumoured, the company has revealed a new label named Riot Forge, in which it will partner with other developers to make more games for its flagship series.

Today, Riot announced a new "publishing group" called Riot Forge. The games will expand the League of Legends universe beyond its current offerings, which are limited to League of Legends itself, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.

According to Riot comms lead Bret Forbus on Twitter, the new projects will be "single-player/story-driven games". The initiative is created to complement the live service games being developed by Riot Games that were announced during the company's 10-year LoL anniversary celebration.

We're excited to welcome @riotgames to #TheGameAwards for the first time! The team wants to make sure that each game is "designed with the right platform in mind for the best possible player experience".

Riot Forge wasn't teased at the League 10 anniversary event, which has made the announcement all the more surprising. "These games will be created and developed by our partner studios and published by Riot Forge".

While Riot have announced that they were developing more competitive experiences within Runeterra, this new opportunity will open the floor for more storytelling in the intricate universe. Riot says there are "multiple titles in development", and provided quick looks at them via concept art, which you can view in the gallery below.
