Long-lost Star Fox 2 headed to Nintendo Switch Online

Long-lost Star Fox 2 headed to Nintendo Switch Online

It will be part of the free Super NES and NES games line-up available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

On the NES side of things, players will get Journey to Silius, a side-scrolling run and gun shooter that was originally based on the 1984 film The Terminator, and Crystalis, an action RPG that didn't do too well financially but eventually became a cult classic. With online play added to every classic game, you can compete or cooperate online with friends, share your screen, or pass the controller, depending on the game. Whether you go with the $20 (£18)/year, $8 (£7)/3-month, or $4 (£3.50)/month plan, subscribing to Switch Online will instantly give you access to a robust selection of NES and SNES games.

The game was never released for SNES despite being a completed game. Oddly, Nintendo followed through and finished the game, only to tuck it away in their archives.

The Nintendo Switch Onlin service is set to receive these six games next Thursday, December 12.

They may not be Donkey Kong Country, but Super Punch-Out! and Kirby Super Star are two absolute treasures from the 16-bit era of gaming.

Super Punch-Out! - Featuring the tight gameplay and humor the series is known for, this sequel to the NES classic sees Little Mac return to the ring with the World Video Boxing Association belt once again at stake.

It's nearly become a running joke as to when Nintendo would ever get around to updating its retro library for its Nintendo Switch Online service. The game debuted in 1994 to rave reviews, though some felt that it didn't quite outshine its predecessor.
